Bitcoin Core Fixes Privacy Flaw Ahead of Next Stable Mainnet Release
The Bitcoin Core development team has released version 31.1rc1, fixing a privacy flaw in PrivateBroadcast and introducing various improvements ahead of the next stable mainnet release.
According to the developers, certain network conditions could expose a user's internet address by allowing a connection outside the intended privacy network. This issue is now resolved, making transaction broadcasting more consistent for users who rely on privacy-focused network configurations.
The updated software also improves blockchain validation and long-term node performance. The developers have refined networking behavior, allowing Bitcoin Core to handle proxy settings and PrivateBroadcast connections more intelligently.
Wallet functionality received additional maintenance updates as well, with improved migration checks and transaction input size estimation. Security-related updates include additional safeguards for MuSig2, the signature aggregation protocol supported by Bitcoin Core.
