US Justice Department Freezes Crypto Assets in Crackdown on Southeast Asian Fraud Networks
The US Department of Justice has partnered with major tech companies, including Coinbase, Apple, and Google, to crack down on fraud networks operating in Southeast Asia.
As part of the operation, dubbed Disruption Week, $3.8 million in cryptocurrency linked to fraudulent activity was frozen. Additionally, over 1.4 million accounts were deactivated, and thousands of Starlink terminals were terminated.
The crackdown also led to the shutdown of servers, colocation facilities, and hosting infrastructure associated with the fraud networks.
