The European Union has introduced a plan to impose a small tax on cryptocurrency transactions within its borders. According to an internal document, the Commission is considering a 0.1% tax on every crypto trade, which could yield between €3 billion and €4 billion per year.
This proposal forms part of a larger revenue package that also includes taxes on digital services and gambling. The full package is estimated to generate approximately €20 billion over the 2028-2034 EU budget period.
