US Firm Owns Over 4% of All Bitcoin, Sparking Concerns About Market Concentration
Strategy, a leading business intelligence firm based in the United States, has made significant strides in accumulating a substantial amount of Bitcoin over the years. The company has reportedly spent billions of dollars on purchases, resulting in it owning more than four percent of the total Bitcoin supply.
According to recent reports, Strategy's latest purchase added 24,869 BTC to its stash at an average price of $80,985 per coin. This brings its total crypto holdings to a staggering 843,738 BTC, valued at approximately $64.6 billion depending on the current price of Bitcoin.
The sheer scale of the purchases has sparked concerns among analysts about the potential risks associated with one company owning such a significant portion of the cryptocurrency market. The volatility of Bitcoin's price is also raising questions about whether this level of concentration could impact the wider crypto market.
