Arbitrum Freezes KelpDAO Assets Amid Market Risks
Arbitrum has implemented its Layer 2 freezing mechanism to isolate assets affected by the recent KelpDAO hack. The move freezes approximately $71.15 million worth of ETH, valued at 30,766 units.
The KelpDAO hack occurred last week and resulted in a massive drain of $292 million due to vulnerabilities in rsETH setup on a single-DVN configuration, leaving wrapped ether stranded across 20 chains.
This incident highlights the importance of robust security measures in cryptocurrency systems, particularly as market risks continue to rise. Arbitrum's freezing mechanism serves as a key component in Ethereum scaling and rapid smart contract security.
