The Major County Sheriffs of America (MCSA) has shifted its stance on the Crypto Clarity Act, now taking a neutral position. The move comes after MCSA cited ongoing talks over Section 604 of the bill, which drew concerns in their earlier letter to Senate Banking Committee leaders Tim Scott and Elizabeth Warren.
The shift was announced in a recent letter signed by Sheriff Bob Gualtieri, MCSA president. In May 2026, MCSA expressed concerns about how the provision would work in practice, but after continued discussions with the Administration, they now stand neutral on H.R. 3633, the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
MCSA still wants changes that strengthen the bill further and asked Congress to give state and local law enforcement a formal role in the Treasury study required under Section 309. They argued that local agencies investigate most digital asset crimes and should help shape policy recommendations tied to the bill.
