Ethereum DeFi Ecosystem Sees Surge in Activity with Wrapped Ethereum

Wrapped Ethereum (WETH) has experienced a notable increase in network activity, surpassing previous records for participation. According to on-chain analytics provider Santiment, 32,058 new WETH wallets were created on Wednesday, exceeding the daily average by more than 16 times. This surge was accompanied by an increased number of active wallets, with 46,650 becoming involved, nearly three times the typical amount.

The growth in WETH activity is particularly noteworthy as it reflects a significant expansion of Ethereum's DeFi ecosystem. As a widely-used token for interacting with smart contracts and liquidity pools, WETH has seen widespread adoption among users engaging with decentralized applications and protocols.
