Global financial institution Intercontinental Exchange Inc. (ICE) has made a strategic investment in the OKX cryptocurrency exchange, valuing it at $25 billion. This move marks a significant step towards integrating traditional financial markets with the digital asset ecosystem.
The partnership will see ICE take a seat on OKX's board of directors and collaborate on various initiatives. These include expanding global investors' access to ICE-operated markets, accelerating the development of blockchain-based financial infrastructure, and strengthening market structure between digital assets and equities.
As part of the investment, ICE will license the spot price of crypto from OKX to support the development of new crypto futures products. The two companies will also develop an institutional-standard clearing and risk management system.
