Stablecoin Yield Pioneers New Philanthropic Funding Model
A new pilot program has been launched to explore the potential of stablecoin yield in supporting school connectivity worldwide.
The initiative, developed by blockchain infrastructure company Launchnodes, is a collaboration with the GSR Foundation and UNICEF's Giga initiative.
The Stablecoin for Impact platform, built by Launchnodes, allows donors to allocate a portion of their stablecoin deposits towards social initiatives, such as school connectivity. The yield generated from these deposits will be directed towards supporting connectivity delivered through Giga.
The pilot includes participation from the GSR Foundation, which is acting as the inaugural institutional donor. Yield generated from the Foundation's stablecoin deposits is being directed to support connectivity delivered through Giga.
Launchnodes CEO Jaydeep Korde stated that using widely adopted stablecoins and lending markets like Aave makes it possible to create a new model for philanthropic funding. This allows financial institutions, corporates, and CSR teams to support initiatives like school connectivity while retaining ownership of their capital.
