Burke County Residents Warned of Warrant Scam Demanding Bitcoin Payments

The Burke County Sheriff's Office has issued a warning about a phone scam targeting local residents. The scammers claim that the victim has an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court and demand payment through Bitcoin machines to clear their name.

However, law enforcement stresses that they will never request payment in this manner, especially not through cryptocurrency or gift cards. Anyone who receives a similar call is urged to report the incident to their local law enforcement agency immediately.
