Irish Authorities Seize Additional Bitcoin from Notorious Drug Dealer's Wallets
The investigation into Clifton Collins' cryptocurrency holdings has yielded significant results. In March, the Irish Criminal Assets Bureau seized 500 Bitcoin from a Collins-linked wallet, valued at approximately $19.3 million. The recent recovery of an additional 500 BTC brings the total recovered to 1,000 BTC, worth about $38.7 million.
The collaboration between the Irish Criminal Assets Bureau and Europol played a crucial role in accessing the wallets. Europol's European Cybercrime Centre provided technical expertise and decryption resources, enabling investigators to access the wallet contents. This achievement marks a rare instance of authorities successfully recovering cryptocurrencies previously considered lost or unreachable.
