Poland's Crypto Regulation Debate Heats Up

Poland's lawmakers are currently reviewing four competing proposals for regulating the country's cryptoasset market. These bills were introduced following two presidential vetoes of earlier legislation, which stalled previous regulatory plans.

The government proposal, which has been prepared in detail by the Ministry of Finance, would increase the maximum fine for obstructing inspections to 25 million PLN ($6.9 million).

A separate enforcement measure was proposed by President Karol Nawrocki, which keeps the maximum penalty at 20 million PLN ($5.5 million) but outlines alternative measures.

The Law and Justice party has also submitted a bill seeking to ban cryptoasset activity in Poland. This proposal follows the withdrawal of support for an earlier market regulation bill by four PiS lawmakers.
