Trump: US Must Lead in Cryptocurrency or Risk Losing Dominance to China

Speaking at a White House event launching the 'Trump Accounts' investment program, Trump acknowledged that his views on cryptocurrency had evolved over time and that digital assets were now a strategic priority for the country.

Initially skeptical about cryptocurrencies during his first term, Trump said he changed his stance after witnessing their rapid growth. He emphasized that if the US doesn't take the lead in this industry, China will likely dominate it. 'I'm a big crypto guy,' Trump stated. 'I've become a big crypto guy only for one reason. If we don't have it, China's going to have it.'

Trump also criticized his predecessor's administration for its handling of the cryptocurrency sector, accusing them of trying to suppress innovation and 'weaponizing' regulators against the industry.
