Crypto Market Shakeout: Over $142M in Liquidations Within 24 Hours
A recent surge in crypto futures liquidations has highlighted the inherent risks associated with leveraged trading in the cryptocurrency market.
The past 24 hours have seen over $142 million in losses across major perpetual contracts, with Ethereum leading the way at $69.16 million. Bitcoin followed closely behind, with $67.77 million in liquidations. Solana, on the other hand, experienced a smaller but more concentrated event, with $5.28 million in losses.
The data suggests that both long and short traders faced significant losses, with Ethereum's short sellers being squeezed out of their positions. Bitcoin's bulls were also caught off guard by a sudden price drop, while Solana's liquidations revealed a highly leveraged long bias in the market.
