Crypto Hacks Skyrocket in Q2 2026 with 70 Incidents Totaling $746M
The second quarter of 2026 has seen a record number of cryptocurrency hacks, with approximately 70 incidents reported and total losses reaching $746 million. This figure is double the previous record for the number of incidents in a single quarter, but remains below past peak loss values.
The increase in hacks highlights a shift toward more frequent, smaller-scale attacks, diverging from previous trends of fewer but larger breaches. In April 2026 alone, there were 30 reported hacks, with significant breaches involving Drift Protocol and KelpDAO.
Analysts note that code vulnerabilities and cross-chain bridge compromises have been major contributors to these incidents.
