Tech Industries' Big Bet on Illinois Primaries Falls Flat

The recent Illinois primaries saw a significant influx of money from the cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence industries, with a combined total of nearly $20 million spent across various races.

Despite their efforts, however, the industries' preferred candidates did not fare well in most cases. In one notable instance, Fairshake, a crypto-backed political action committee, spent over $10 million opposing Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton's candidacy for the U.S. Senate seat being vacated by Sen. Dick Durbin.

However, in a surprise twist, Stratton ultimately emerged victorious in her bid for the nomination.
