$2.3B Stablecoin Exodus Strands Bitcoin in Liquidity Crisis
A significant exodus of stablecoins from major cryptocurrency exchanges Binance and Bybit has left $2.3 billion in liquid capital unavailable for Bitcoin trading, according to on-chain data shared by analyst Darkfost.
The outflow, which totals $1.55 billion in stablecoins exiting Binance and $786 million leaving Bybit over the past 30 days, is squeezing the liquidity available for Bitcoin trading and contributing to its prolonged price range.
Stablecoins such as USDT and USDC serve as the primary on-ramp for purchasing Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies on exchanges. When reserves shrink, the pool of capital available to absorb buy orders diminishes, often leading to lower trading volumes and increased price sensitivity to large orders.
