Kaspersky Identifies 26 Fake Crypto Wallet Apps on Apple App Store

A recent discovery by cybersecurity firm Kaspersky highlights the growing threat of fake cryptocurrency wallet apps on Apple's App Store. The company's Threat Research team found that 26 fraudulent applications are designed to steal users' digital assets, masquerading as popular wallets such as MetaMask and Ledger.

The scam works by redirecting users to phishing pages that resemble the App Store interface, prompting them to download a second application – which is actually a trojanized wallet. This malicious payload can drain cryptocurrency funds from both hot and cold wallets.

Kaspersky's mobile malware expert, Sergey Puzan, noted that while the apps themselves may not contain harmful code, they serve as entry points in a broader attack chain leading to malware installation.
