Cantor Fitzgerald and Securitize Bring Tokenization Framework to Mainstream Markets
Financial institutions are increasingly embracing blockchain technology to support tokenized securities. In a significant development, investment giant Cantor Fitzgerald and blockchain broker-dealer Securitize have partnered to create a framework for tokenized IPOs and follow-on equity offerings that adheres to existing US regulatory structures.
The partnership combines Cantor's expertise in equity capital markets with Securitize's blockchain infrastructure. The framework will allow companies to issue, distribute, and service digital securities within existing regulatory frameworks, rather than creating a new system outside of them.
This move follows the trend of growing adoption of tokenized stocks onchain. According to data from RWA.xyz, the value of tokenized stocks has risen 16% over the past 30 days to nearly $1.9 billion. The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) is also piloting tokenization of stocks and US Treasurys with around 40 firms, including JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs.
