BNP Paribas Launches Crypto ETNs for Retail Customers

BNP Paribas, France's largest bank, is taking a significant step into the world of cryptocurrency by introducing an exchange-traded note (ETN) investment service for retail customers. This move allows individual and corporate clients, as well as private banking customers and those with Hello Bank!, to invest in digital assets through their existing securities accounts.

The six ETN products will be available from the 30th, with Bitcoin and Ethereum as underlying assets. The bank has selected global asset managers with proven risk-management capabilities to enhance stability and investor protection. To ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, BNP Paribas has implemented strict safeguards in line with the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive II (MiFID II).

The launch of ETN products in cryptocurrency marks a significant expansion of access to digital assets for investors. BNP Paribas plans to use this launch as a starting point and gradually expand its crypto ETN service to major hubs worldwide where its Wealth Management network is present.
