Cryptocurrency ATM company Bitcoin Depot has fallen victim to a cyberattack, resulting in the theft of $3.6 million.
The incident occurred on March 23, when an unauthorized actor gained access to the company's systems and transferred 50.903 Bitcoins from company-controlled wallets.
Bitcoin Depot, which operates over 9,000 kiosks across 47 states in the US, has confirmed that no customer information was accessed or exfiltrated during the incident.
An investigation is ongoing, with outside cybersecurity experts assisting and law enforcement notified. The company has stated that it believes the attack was contained to its corporate environment and did not affect any customer platforms or systems.
