Vitalik Buterin Unveils Lean Ethereum Roadmap for Next Era
Ethereum's next major evolution, dubbed 'Lean Ethereum', has been unveiled by co-founder Vitalik Buterin. The roadmap outlines a comprehensive overhaul of the blockchain's core protocol over the next three to four years.
The overhaul aims to improve scalability, efficiency, and long-term resilience through a series of incremental protocol upgrades. Key features include replacing direct transaction re-execution with recursive STARK-based verification, introducing quantum-resistant cryptography, and redesigning the consensus mechanism for one- or two-round finality.
Buterin emphasized that privacy will be built into the architecture of future protocol upgrades, making it a first-class goal. This includes evaluating new protocol components to support intermediary-free, quantum-safe privacy protocols while keeping overhead low.
