Vitalik Buterin's $7 Million ETH Sell-Off Amid Cryptocurrency Bear Market

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has made significant moves in the market by selling over $7 million worth of Ethereum. This comes at a time when ETH's price is plummeting, with a 30% drop in value over the past month. According to recent data, Buterin withdrew 3,500 ETH from DeFi protocol Aave on February 22 and quickly sold part of it.

Buterin's actions have raised eyebrows, as he previously announced that the Ethereum Foundation was entering a period of 'mild austerity' to achieve its goals. However, his immediate market actions suggest otherwise. Since February 2, Buterin has sold more than 7,380 ETH for roughly $15.5 million at an average price of $2,100.

Analysts argue that ETH is now flashing severely oversold technical signals, with some on-chain analytics firms pointing to a severe 14.3% deficit in Ethereum's Market Value to Realized Value (MVRV) ratio. This metric compares an asset's total market capitalization to its realized value and estimates average holder profitability.
