Wireman Fined for Illegal Bitcoin Mining Operation

A Sessions Court in Batu Pahat has imposed a fine of RM30,000 on a wireman for his role in illegally bypassing an electricity meter. Lim Khim Wen, 37, pleaded guilty to the charge and was ordered to serve 12 months' imprisonment if he fails to pay the fine.

The court heard that the illegal connection was used to power bitcoin mining equipment at a house in Tongkang Pechah. The operation resulted in losses of RM15,392 to Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) over a one-month period.
