Flutterwave Bolsters Stablecoin Infrastructure with Tempo Partnership
Flutterwave, a leading African fintech company, has announced a strategic partnership with Tempo, a blockchain network focused on payments, to enhance its stablecoin settlement capabilities. The collaboration aims to address the high costs and lengthy delays associated with cross-border transactions in Africa.
The integration of Tempo's layer-1 blockchain network into Flutterwave's multi-chain payments infrastructure is expected to support faster and more efficient global money movement. This move is seen as a significant step towards institutionalizing stablecoin utility for real-world commerce, reducing reliance on traditional correspondent banking and foreign exchange chains.
According to the World Bank, remittance fees to sub-Saharan Africa average around 7%, which is significantly higher than the global average of 6%. The new partnership directly addresses this issue by providing a faster and more cost-efficient solution for businesses and individuals across the continent.
