Drift Protocol Seeks Recovery from Record-Breaking Security Breach
Drift Protocol, a prominent decentralized perpetual futures exchange on the Solana blockchain, has been dealing with the aftermath of one of the largest security breaches in its network's history.
The platform suffered an exploit on April 1 that resulted in the loss of nearly $295.7 million in user funds, highlighting the importance of robust security measures and risk management within decentralized finance (DeFi).
Drift Protocol has unveiled a comprehensive recovery plan, supported by stablecoin issuer Tether and other ecosystem partners, which includes up to $147.5 million in financial backing.
The proposed framework combines immediate financial support with longer-term recovery mechanisms that depend on the platform's ability to resume operations and generate revenue.
A key aspect of the plan is the introduction of recovery tokens, which represent a form of structured compensation for affected users.
