Ukrainian Official Declares Significant Assets Amidst Modest Salary

A recent asset declaration by a high-ranking official in Ukraine has raised eyebrows due to its sheer scale. Pavlo Kovalchuk, Deputy Head of the Regional Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Rivne, Volyn, and Zhytomyr regions, declared assets totaling over 7.85 million UAH.

The declaration reveals that Kovalchuk holds significant amounts of cryptocurrency on the WhiteBIT exchange, including WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) worth 3.1 million UAH and Tether (USDT) valued at 4.35 million UAH. In addition to his own assets, Kovalchuk also listed the properties owned by his family members, including several real estate holdings in the Volyn region.

The declaration also highlights the official's relatively modest salary of 777.26 thousand UAH compared to the substantial value of his declared assets. The presence of expensive vehicles, such as an Audi Q7 and Audi Q8, has sparked questions about potential conflict of interest or income discrepancies.
