FBI Gives OneCoin Victims Final Chance to Claim Compensation

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is reminding victims of the OneCoin cryptocurrency investment scam that they have until June 30 to file for compensation through a Department of Justice remission program.

The program will use over $40m in seized assets recovered from figures tied to the scheme, which is estimated to have caused losses exceeding $4b worldwide.

Victims must have invested in OneCoin between 2014 and 2019 and suffered a net financial loss to be eligible for compensation. The process of filing a claim is free, but it does not guarantee payment.

Ruja Ignatova, the founder of OneCoin, remains at large with a $5m reward offered by the U.S. Department of State for information leading to her arrest or conviction.
