BNB Chain Explores Post-Quantum Cryptography Migration for BSC
BNB Chain has released a comprehensive research report examining the potential migration path for its BSC blockchain to post-quantum cryptography. As quantum computing continues to advance, the blockchain ecosystem is facing growing pressure to implement quantum-resistant cryptographic systems.
The study evaluates several key areas of the BSC stack, including post-quantum transaction signature schemes, validator signature aggregation, and cross-region network performance under increased data loads. The research found that while post-quantum readiness is technically feasible today, it comes with significant scalability trade-offs.
In testing, the implementation resulted in a substantial increase in transaction size and block size, leading to a decrease in native transfer TPS. However, pqSTARK aggregation remained highly efficient, compressing validator signatures by approximately 43:1.
