Warren Questions Use of Foreign-Made Crypto Equipment in US
US Senator Elizabeth Warren has written to the Commerce Department to request records related to Bitmain, a Chinese company that manufactures Bitcoin mining machines.
The move comes as concerns continue to grow over the use of foreign-made crypto equipment in the US. Reports have suggested that federal authorities have been examining whether Bitmain's hardware poses security risks, with some even suggesting it could be used for espionage or interference with power systems.
Warren's letter asks the Commerce Department to provide information on any federal review of Bitmain and its products, as well as details on how the department has handled the matter so far. She also seeks to clarify whether there have been any communications between Bitmain, the Commerce Department, and members of the Trump family.
