Circle Sued Over Alleged Role in $280 Million Crypto Exploit

A lawsuit has been filed against Circle Internet Financial, alleging the company's role in a major crypto exploit that occurred on the Solana network. The hack, which took place on April 1, 2026, saw attackers move over $280 million in digital assets.

According to the complaint, attackers routed funds from Solana to Ethereum using bridges and swaps to obscure transaction trails. During an eight-hour offloading phase involving USDC and Circle's Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), roughly $230 million was moved without any effective intervention from Circle.
