CZ's Quantum Migration Plan Seeks to Safeguard Dormant Bitcoin Wallets
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao has proposed a 'Bitcoin freeze' plan to address potential security threats from quantum computers.
The proposal targets dormant Bitcoin wallets, including those thought to belong to Satoshi Nakamoto, and aims to prevent large-scale theft by unmigrated addresses.
According to Zhao, the threat of quantum computers is not an impractical one, and existing quantum-resistant cryptographic systems are already available.
Critics have rejected the idea, citing concerns over the confiscation of private property and potential impacts on market stability.
