Bitcoin Price Volatility Reaches New Lows Amidst Investor Concerns
The price of Bitcoin (BTC) has been experiencing volatility lately, momentarily dipping below $60,000 on June 5 for the first time since October 2024. As a result, roughly half of every Bitcoin in circulation is held at a loss, adding to the market's pessimistic sentiment towards crypto.
The coin's current price of around $64,000 represents a 49% decline from its all-time high near $126,000 in October. Spot exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have seen net capital outflows of $1.7 billion in the trading week ending June 5, marking the worst stretch for outflows since February 2025.
The largest corporate Bitcoin holder, Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, has made its first sale since 2022, further fueling investor concerns that the coin might fall even further. However, some experts point out that past bear market cycles saw Bitcoin draw down by as much as 85% from prior peaks.
