Airbnb CEO's X Account Hacked with AI-Generated Tokenization Pitch

Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky's X account was compromised this week by an attacker who posted an AI-generated thread promoting real-world asset tokenization.

The unauthorized posts contained no phishing links or wallet addresses, but mimicked the confident cadence of a Web3 evangelist, arguing that tokenization could make traditional assets easier to divide, trade, and settle.

Chesky quickly regained control and addressed the episode with sarcasm, saying he would be 'a very disappointing follow' for new crypto followers. He made clear he has no plans to enter digital assets.

The incident echoes recent high-profile account takeovers targeting SpaceX, Starlink, and investor Ross Gerber, where compromised accounts were used to pump memecoins before executing rug pulls.
