Bond Faces November Trial on Campaign Finance Charges

Michelle Bond, wife of former FTX co-CEO Ryan Salame, is set to stand trial in November on campaign finance charges related to her husband's 2022 congressional bid. Judge George Daniels in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York ordered a trial start date of Nov. 9 after denying Bond's motion to dismiss the indictment.

The case stems from an August 2024 indictment, which alleged that Bond and Salame 'illegally funded' her campaign with $400,000 in FTX funds as part of a 'sham' payment in violation of campaign finance laws. Salame was sentenced to 90 months in prison in 2024 after pleading guilty to conspiracy to make unlawful political contributions.

Bond's trial is one of the final criminal proceedings related to the collapse of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, which filed for bankruptcy in 2022. The case has drawn attention to the intersection of politics and finance, with Salame and other executives facing charges related to their roles at FTX.
