CFTC Greenlights First Regulated Bitcoin Perpetual Contract in US
The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has taken a major leap forward in regulating Bitcoin perpetual contracts in the United States.
By approving Kalshi's BTCPERP product, the CFTC has greenlit the first regulated Bitcoin perpetual contract on a US exchange, setting a precedent for similar listings by other exchanges.
The approval comes as Coinbase prepares to launch its own perpetual futures offerings through its subsidiary, Coinbase Financial Markets, Inc., a registered futures commission merchant. The move marks another significant step in the evolution of US crypto regulation and could potentially reshape how traders access leveraged digital asset markets going forward.
