XRP Surges on Ripple-Flutterwave Deal, Signals Growing Institutional Adoption
Ripple's investment in Flutterwave has driven XRP prices up to $1.23 on Tuesday, as part of the Nigerian payments company's Series E funding round valued at $3.2 billion.
The deal brings together two major players in digital payments - Ripple, a blockchain-based payments network with global reach, and Flutterwave, the dominant force in African cross-border transactions.
Ripple's investment in Flutterwave marks its first direct equity ownership in Africa, rather than just technology partnerships. Data from a cryptocurrency exchange shows that XRP trading volume increased by 25% to about $3 billion on Tuesday, with positive buying activity despite the token price remaining relatively tight over the past 24 hours.
This comes as Ripple expands its payments partnership with Bitso, Latin America's leading digital financial services company. As part of the collaboration, Bitso's regulated MXN-backed stablecoin, MXNB, will be issued on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) and integrated into Ripple's evolving Payments on Decentralised Exchange (DEX) infrastructure.
