AI Accelerates Ethereum's Development but Raises Security Concerns
Ethereum's 2030 roadmap has been accelerated through the use of artificial intelligence (AI). A recent experiment demonstrated the power of AI in accelerating development, with a prototype of the blockchain's future architecture being created in just weeks. This achievement is attributed to the vibe-coding method, an AI-based approach to coding.
Vitalik Buterin, Ethereum's co-founder, has expressed his admiration for the experiment and its results. He believes that AI can greatly accelerate coding, potentially enabling the completion of the 2030 roadmap faster than expected while maintaining higher security standards. However, Buterin also emphasized the importance of security, warning that AI code may contain critical errors or missing versions.
Buterin suggested allocating half of the speed gains to security measures such as developing more test scenarios, formal verification, and multiple implementations. The Ethereum Foundation's 'Strawmap' roadmap outlines key updates including functionality accounts and quantum resistance. Additionally, Buterin previously stated that smart accounts would arrive within a year.
