Crypto Prices Rise Following US-Iran Ceasefire Announcement
The cryptocurrency market experienced a boost on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, as the announcement of a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran sent prices soaring. Bitcoin (BTC-USD) opened at $71,926.16, a 4.5% increase from Tuesday's opening price, while Ethereum (ETH-USD) opened at $2,239.89, 6.3% higher than its previous day's opening.
The war had dampened investors' appetite for risk, affecting crypto and stock prices. However, the temporary ceasefire signals a pause in escalation, which is seen as a positive sign for high-risk assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum.
Bitcoin surpassed $70,000 for the first time since March 26, while Ethereum moved above $2,200 to reach its highest value since March 18. The price of both cryptocurrencies has been steadily increasing over the past month, with Bitcoin up 6.9% from last month's opening price and Ethereum up 13.7%.
