Cryptocurrency Market Post-Election Performance Shows Mixed Results
The post-election performance of cryptocurrencies has been a mixed bag since Donald Trump's 2024 presidential win. While some major cryptos have seen significant gains, others have declined or plateaued.
XRP stands out as a notable exception, with a 186% gain over the same period. In contrast, Bitcoin and Ethereum have shown more modest growth, rising 18.73% and 13.45%, respectively, from election day to May 2026. However, their five-year returns trail behind the S&P500's, which has seen a 77.32% increase.
The differing performance of these major cryptos may be attributed to their varying degrees of exposure to traditional stock markets and macroeconomic factors. As the cryptocurrency market continues to evolve, investors are advised to remain vigilant and adaptable in response to changing market conditions.
