Web3's Workforce Challenge: Experience Over Education
Web3's workforce challenge is not about attracting talent, but rather providing practical opportunities for newcomers to gain experience and enter the industry. A recent report by Bitget highlights this issue, revealing that over 54% of aspiring professionals identify prior experience requirements as a major barrier to entering the Web3 sector.
The report also shows that while interest in Web3 careers continues to grow, many candidates struggle to translate their education into employment. The industry's rapid growth has led to an expansion of blockchain education globally, but hiring pathways have not developed at the same pace, creating a disconnect between learning and employment opportunities.
Emerging markets are driving Web3 talent growth, with Nigeria, Indonesia, and China collectively accounting for nearly half of all survey respondents. The convergence of artificial intelligence and blockchain emerged as the most attractive career area, with 61% of respondents identifying it as their preferred path.
Bitget's Blockchain4Youth initiative is working to address this challenge by providing a structured curriculum and industry insights. The program combines blockchain fundamentals, decentralized finance education, and emerging technology topics into a comprehensive learning experience that includes mentorship from experienced professionals.
