Crypto Prices Drop to Under $1: Which Altcoins Are Worth Betting On?
Crypto prices have recently dropped, creating a unique market opportunity for bargain-hunting investors. Of the top 20 cryptocurrencies by market cap, half now trade for $1 or less, with five being stablecoins and five highly speculative altcoins.
The stablecoins can be ignored since they always trade for $1, but the altcoins have potential for 'stratospheric gains.' Tron is one of the top blockchain networks for stablecoins and has seen a 12% increase in value this year. However, its founder Justin Sun is a controversial figure who has clashed with U.S. regulators.
Canton, which started trading at the end of 2025, is a Layer 1 smart contract blockchain network focused on real-world asset tokenization. Top consulting firms project RWA tokenization to be a multitrillion-dollar market opportunity, making Canton an attractive play. Even better, Canton has buy-in from big-name institutional investors, including a recently launched ETF.
XRP, the world's sixth-most valuable cryptocurrency, is currently trading for $1.11 and is almost certain to dip below $1 at some point in 2026. While Canton offers upside appeal, XRP has a longer track record and is backed by Ripple, a fintech firm valued at $50 billion.
