Kraken Dominates MiCA-Regulated Exchanges with Unmatched Liquidity
Kraken has solidified its position as the leading exchange in terms of liquidity under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. With $399.71 million in spot liquidity and $206.90 million in perpetual liquidity, Kraken outpaces Coinbase by nearly $95 million in spot liquidity and more than $39 million in perpetual liquidity.
The data from DefiLlama highlights the significant gap between Kraken and its competitors. Coinbase comes in second with $305.23 million in spot liquidity and $167.39 million in perpetual liquidity, while Crypto.com trails behind at $130.84 million in spot liquidity and covers 883 markets. Bitstamp and Bybit follow closely with mid-tier figures.
The rankings suggest that exchanges that invested early in compliance infrastructure, liquidity provisioning, and product breadth have a significant advantage over those who scrambled to meet licensing requirements at the last minute. Kraken's commitment to MiCA has paid off, giving it a commanding lead in terms of spot and perpetual liquidity as well as market coverage.
