Chainlink Lead Challenges Ripple's University Partnership Strategy
Zach Rynes, community lead for Chainlink (CRYPTO:LINK), questioned Ripple's five-year sponsorship agreement with the University of Kansas. The deal includes XRP logo placement on college sports uniforms and blockchain education programs. Rynes argued that this marketing strategy doesn't align with Ripple's institutional payments business.
Rynes claimed that Ripple relies heavily on selling XRP to retail investors, benefiting shareholders with its large holdings of XRP. He stated that 'sponsoring a college sports program with the $XRP logo on the jersey doesn’t make much sense if you think Ripple’s primary business is selling financial technology to banks.'
Ripple has not publicly responded to Rynes' specific claims, and some XRP supporters disputed his comments, arguing that the university partnership supports broader adoption and education.
