Binance Seeks MiCAR License in France Amid EU Registration Deadline

Binance has decided to pursue a MiCAR license in France, choosing this jurisdiction for registration. The company's clients from the European Union are advised to withdraw their assets from the platform by July 1, 2026, as it is unable to complete the procedure within the established deadline.

The EU Council approved the MiCAR regulation in June 2023, requiring all service providers working with cryptocurrencies to register in one of the EU jurisdictions by July 1, 2026. Binance initially applied for a license in Greece but withdrew its application due to the lack of a formal decision.

France has stricter requirements for cryptocurrency companies, but it also supports the transfer of industry oversight to a single European regulator, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA).
