Crypto IPO Market Slows as Investors Rotate into AI and Macro Uncertainty Bites
Crypto initial public offerings have slowed significantly as investors shift capital to other sectors and macroeconomic uncertainty weighs on risk assets, according to Christian Lopez, head of blockchain and digital assets at Cohen & Company Capital Markets.
Last October's liquidity event drained capital from the digital asset ecosystem, and retail investors who once fueled crypto markets have largely moved into artificial intelligence and technology stocks, such as the 'Mag 7' stocks.
Several major crypto firms have delayed their IPO plans due to weaker market conditions and disappointing post-listing performances. Blockchain.com confidentially filed for a U.S. IPO in May, while FalconX filed a draft S-1 registration with the SEC.
Lopez expects the crypto market may not reopen for listings until next year, citing bitcoin's market cycle bottoming around October.
