Chainlink Expands SVR Capabilities to Enhance DeFi Liquidation Value Recovery
Chainlink has made significant improvements to its Smart Value Recapture (SVR) system on Ethereum. The upgrade enables DeFi protocols to capture more value during liquidation events by introducing orderflow auction multiplexing. This feature allows multiple auctions to run in parallel, reducing delays and increasing recapture rates.
The SVR system targets oracle-extractable value, a category of MEV tied to oracle price updates. When a new price report leaves an undercollateralized position exposed, searchers can bid for the right to execute a transaction immediately after that update. The SVR design allows a portion of this value to return to the DeFi protocol and the network.
The upgrade also strengthens the resilience of the system by eliminating dependence on a single auction path. Chainlink's standard Price Feeds remain available as a fallback if the private channel for auction activity fails or expires. This design maintains the same aggregator interface and data structure as conventional Price Feeds, minimizing integration work for protocols that already rely on these feeds.
