Meta Launches USDC Payouts for Select Creators
Meta, a leading social media platform, has recently introduced a new pilot program that enables select creators to receive payments in USDC stablecoin. This move marks Meta's return to cryptocurrency payments after it discontinued its Libra project in 2022.
The pilot program is currently limited to eligible users in Colombia and the Philippines, where creators can link a crypto wallet and choose between Solana and Polygon for settlement. The system allows for cross-border payments without traditional banking rails, providing creators with access to their funds through supported blockchain networks.
Stripe has collaborated with Meta on this initiative, handling crypto-related reporting for users. This means that creators may receive tax documents from both Meta and Stripe, reflecting earnings and related digital asset transactions.
