CleanSpark Pivots Towards Digital Infrastructure Development
CleanSpark, Inc., a leading player in the digital infrastructure sector, has announced its plans to pivot beyond bitcoin mining and focus on developing data centers that cater to artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) demands.
This strategic shift is driven by the increasing constraints of energy access and data center infrastructure, which are crucial for meeting the rising AI compute demand. Matthew Schultz, CleanSpark's Chairman and CEO, emphasized that 'power and infrastructure are at the heart of the supply squeeze,' highlighting the company's unique position to leverage its expertise in operating energy-intensive infrastructure.
CleanSpark has secured 1.8 gigawatts (GW) of contracted capacity, which is expected to support the growth of AI and HPC projects. This figure includes only fully contracted and approved capacity, excluding a multi-gigawatt growth pipeline and potential expansions at existing facilities.
