OCC Head Denies Favoritism in Banking License Approval

Jonathan Gould, the head of the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), has denied any allegations of favoritism towards former President Trump in approving a banking license for World Liberty Financial.

During a recent congressional hearing, Gould stated that the only political pressure he received was from the Democratic Party. This statement comes as a response to concerns that the OCC may have shown bias in its decision-making process.

The hearing also touched on other topics related to the cryptocurrency and banking industries, including stablecoins. The head of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) indicated that a new proposal involving customer identification requirements for stablecoins would soon be introduced.
